The best graduating student of the Bachelor of Business.<br />

School of Engineering and Science<br />

Eric Bode Prize<br />

The best student in the final year ofthe degree courses in applied science.<br />

A bronze plaque and a cash prize, donated by Dr E. H. Bode, are awarded by the<br />

Divisional Board.<br />

IBM Prize<br />

The top final year applied science, engineering or design student.<br />

Awarded by IBM, the annual prize is usually a computer and monitor.<br />

Miles Hancock Prize<br />

To an outstanding student in the area of postgraduate colloid science.<br />

The value of the prize is between $500-$1 000 and is awarded on an occasional basis<br />

by the Colloid Centre.<br />

IG.O_ Jordan Memorial Prize<br />

To the environmental health student with the highest overall result in the final year.<br />

Awarded by the Australian Institute of Environmental Health (Victorian Division) The<br />

annual prize is usually books or an attache case to the value of $120.<br />

Undergraduate Scholarships<br />

To students completing first year of the chemistry or biochemistry courses.<br />

A limited number of scholarships are available upon application. The scholarship value<br />

is $9000 per annum for three years.<br />

School of Information Technology<br />

Postgraduate research scholarships<br />

Postgraduate research scholarships for Master of Applied Science, Master of<br />

Business or Doctor of Philosophy are available under the following two schemes.<br />

(Entry qualifications of at leastan honours degree or equivalent are required.)<br />

Fee Exemption Scholarship<br />

Scholarships covering tuition fees only are available to students who are not<br />

Australian permanent residents. These scholarships are awarded for one year in<br />

the first instance and may be extended. Additional income from tutorial duties<br />

may be available to students with appropriate skills.<br />

School Scholarship<br />

This scheme provides a stipend of $12000 p.a.ln addition, a teaching<br />

assistantship may be negotiated up to an additional $5100 p.a. The successful<br />

candidate may hold the scholarship for up to two years for a Masters program<br />

orthree years fora PhD program. Renewal of the teaching assistantship shall<br />

be subjectto adequate performance of teaching duties.<br />

A number of prizes are currently available to Computer Science students:<br />

AspectComputing Prize<br />

To a student in the final year of a computing degree course (not BIT)<br />

The amount of $1 000 will be awarded on the basis of results in second year<br />

computing subjects. The School nominates up to three students. Aspect Computing<br />

interviews these students and then awards the prize. (Note: Bachelor of Business<br />

(Computing) students also compete forthis prize.)<br />

Australian Computer Society Prize (2)<br />

To the 'best' student on a degree accredited by the ACS at level one or two.<br />

The amount of $150 will be awarded by the ACS to students who are evaluated on<br />

the basis of their aggregate performance on final year computing subjects.<br />

Also to the 'best' student in the Graduate Diploma of Information Systems.<br />

The amount of $150 will be awarded by the ACS to students who are evaluated on<br />

the basis of their aggregate performance.<br />

School of Information Technology Staff Prize<br />

To the student nominated by the School forthe Eric Bode Prize.<br />

An amount of up to $300 will be awarded by the School.<br />

Darren Golden Memorial Prize<br />

To the most outstanding student in the final two years of the Bachelor of Information<br />

Technology.<br />

This prize is funded from the Darren Golden Memorial Trust. The award is based<br />

primarily on academic merit but extra-curricular performance in areas such as<br />

leadership and contribution to course activities will be taken into account.<br />

School of Biophysical Sciences and Electrical Engineering<br />

Postgraduate Scholarship<br />

For students undertaking full-time postgraduate research in an area of study relevant<br />

to the School.<br />

At least one twelve-month scholarship is normally provided, the value of which, is<br />

determined by the Head of School. Scholarships may also be made available to<br />

international students engaged in full-time postgraduate research in an area of study<br />

relevantto the School.<br />

Brain Sciences Institute Postgraduate Scholarship<br />

To a student undertaking full-time postgraduate research in an area of study relevant<br />

to the Centre.<br />

One scholarship is normally provided, the value and duration of which is determined<br />

by the Director of the Institute.<br />

Kenneth Clarke Prize<br />

To the best student in the final year of the Medical Biophysics and Instrumentation<br />

course.<br />

An amount of $200 and a plaque, The Kenneth Clarke prize is awarded based on the<br />

highest weighted average marks in final year. The award is sponsored by the School<br />

in recognition of Mr Kenneth Clarke, a former long service member of the Biophysics<br />

Advisory Committee.<br />
