John 14:15-16, 23-26<br />
“If you love me, you will keep my<br />
<strong>com</strong>mandments. And I will ask the<br />
Father, and he will give you another<br />
Advocate, to be with you forever. Jesus<br />
answered him, “Those who love me will<br />
keep my word, and my Father will love<br />
them, and we will <strong>com</strong>e to them and<br />
make our home with them. Whoever<br />
does not love me does not keep my<br />
words; and the word that you hear is<br />
not mine, but is from the Father who<br />
sent me. “I have said these things to<br />
you while I am still with you. But the<br />
Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the<br />
Father will send in my name, will teach<br />
you everything, and remind you of all<br />
that I have said to you.<br />
Reflection<br />
If we fill ourselves with the right spirit – a<br />
holy spirit – we will follow the teachings<br />
of Jesus. Jesus came to fulfil the law<br />
and revive its spirit. He came to remind<br />
and reinforce the intention of the laws<br />
so that they could be relevant to all<br />
Jews and non-Jews, then and forever.<br />
Jesus’ teachings are not a list of<br />
<strong>com</strong>mandments, but a change of heart.<br />
Prayer<br />
Jesus, you bring to us a different way,<br />
a way of the heart and spirit. Help me to<br />
look deep within to let this spirit into my<br />
heart so that everything I do is in your<br />
name, and the name of the Father.<br />
