(e) Establishing and imposing government control on import<br />
and use of new antimalarials, e.g. meEloquine, so as to<br />
minimize their abuse.<br />
(f) Encouraging the use of judiciously selected and tested<br />
drug combinations. This does not necessarily mean the<br />
acceptance of empirically formulated antimalarial<br />
combinations proposed by members of the pharmaceutical<br />
industry, as has happened in the past.<br />

Encouraging research on antimalarials involving national<br />
health research centres and universities, especially in<br />
collabora tion wi th WHO and other i nterna tional research<br />
organizations.
