1. President Horton addressed membership<br />
a. Welcomed all persons to meeting <strong>and</strong><br />
reminded that voting was limited to WNA<br />
members only<br />
b. Requested that membership agree to<br />
allowing voice voting for motions as<br />
compared to secret ballot<br />
CONCLUSIONS 1. WNA membership verbally agreed to use voice method for voting as compared to secret ballot<br />
WNA 2012-2013 STRATEGIC PLAN AND UPDATE<br />
DISCUSSION<br />
1. President opened floor for discussion of strategic planning from WNA membership<br />
a. Niemoller, District #12 – Consider advancing professional development include<br />
educational options<br />
i. Bodily, District #6 agrees for the need of continuing education as a WNA<br />
benefit<br />
ii. Stephens, District #1 reports that new graduates feel that education is not<br />
something that is offered as a benefit<br />
iii. Knaus, district # 2 – provided a synopsis of each goal <strong>and</strong> encouraged all<br />
members to either approach WNA board member by phone, in person, or by<br />
email related to questions/concerns/clarification<br />
iv. Justice, District #3 – suggested that new graduates are assigned an active<br />
WNA member for support <strong>and</strong> possible recruitment<br />

DISCUSSION<br />
1. Executive Director Repot<br />
a. Introduction the WNA staff: Tobi Lyon-Moore <strong>and</strong> Toni Decklever<br />
b. WNA Membership Recap<br />
i. Request for membership to update email addresses<br />
ii. June 13 – 339 members compared to August 330 members –<br />
pointed out differences in report numbers<br />
iii. Since 2009 – 6% increase<br />
iv. Penetrated the RN market 7.35% - reported to the membership that<br />
WNA is number 5 in all state nursing associations <strong>and</strong> #1 in<br />
nonunionized state nursing associations<br />
1. Have maintained that status over the last 14 years<br />
v. Br<strong>and</strong> new members over the last 4.5 years: 339 members – this is<br />
more than what the current WNA membership is now<br />
vi. Retention rate – consistently 60% - 69% since 2009<br />
vii. Discussed how different WNA membership types break down (please<br />
see the ED presentation for figures)<br />
viii. Discussed the membership survey that was sent out<br />
1. Built around a variety of information that pulled<br />
demographics <strong>and</strong> the type of person who answered the<br />
survey<br />
a. 17% return of survey as compared to 29% last<br />
year<br />
2. Discussed results of membership survey (please see survey<br />
results for detailed numbers)<br />

a. Treasurers report provided by Vicki Winney – please see treasurer’s report for<br />
details<br />
i. Discussed budget operation is 60/40 (60% from non – dues revenue<br />
<strong>and</strong> 40% from membership dues)<br />
ii. Reported that Tobi Lyon-Moore was provided a raise<br />
