Registration
Once your application has been accepted and you have received notification of this, you must register for the
Research Proposal Module in the case of the research only master’s or doctoral degree and for your chosen
modules in the case of a coursework master’s degree. Please note that you will only be able to register for the
qualification for which you have been accepted.
Registration for the research component is only allowed if the Research Proposal Module has been
completed successfully.
Re-registration every year (within the specified registration period) is applicable to all master’s and doctoral students –
subject to adequate progress having been made during the year. Your supervisor will advise whether you are eligible
for re-registration. Should you wish to not re-register for a year and interrupt your studies, this must be discussed
with your supervisor, application for such made online, on the prescribed form as soon as the registration period
begins, and permission to defer received in writing from the university before the closing date for re-registration.
While you are awaiting feedback from Unisa we suggest that you begin considering your
research proposal and start with the basic structure of your proposal. More information
and guidelines will be provided to you once you have been accepted to Unisa and assigned
a contact person/supervisor. It will be beneficial to you at that point to have a considered
view of the direction your research proposal will take.
