COMPUTER
NETWORKING ACADEMY

Credit: 3.5 elective per year OR
Year 1 - 1.0 Algebra II, 2.5 elective
Year 2 - 3.5 elective
Fees - None
Students in this program can chose between two career
tracks: PC Support Technician or Network Administrator.
Students will be trained in setting up computer
networks, administering network operating systems
and installing, configuring and upgrading hardware.
Students can prepare for the CISCO Certified Network
Associate Intro exam, the Microsoft Certified
Professional (MCP) exam, the Comptia A+ exam
and the Comptia Network+ exam, all of which are
globally recognized credentials. Successful students
have the ability to engage in technical reading and to
solve complex problems. Students are encouraged
to pursue post-secondary education. Course prerequisites
include grades of C or better in Keyboarding,
Algebra I, and Introduction to Computers or instructor
permission. Students needing Algebra II for college
admission have the option of acquiring it through this
course.

This program teaches the fundamentals needed for
programming software for Web sites, smart devices,
business applications and personal use. Students will
learn and use several programming languages, including
Visual Basic, C++, Java and XHTML. To be successful
in this field, students are encouraged to pursue
post-secondary education, earning at least a two-year
Associate Degree in a technical field. Course prerequisites
include grades of C or better in Keyboarding,
Algebra I, and Introduction to Computers or instructor
permission.
