Gündelik yaşam tarihiyle
ilgilinenler pek çok
nesnenin, buluşun,
alışkanlığın eski Çin’e
dayandığını bilir. Dondurmada
da durum değişmiyor, pek çok
bulgu, işaretler MÖ 1000’li yıllara
ve Çin’e götürüyor. Hatta Marco
Polo’nun Çin’den getirdiği tariflere
bakılırsa, buzla sütün karışımı
-yani gerçek dondurma- Çinlilerin
imzasını taşıyor.
O döneme, yani MÖ 1000’li
yıllara dönelim. Asya, büyük
uygarlıklara ve onlarla birlikte
büyük buluşlara hazırlanıyor.
Barutun, kağıdın yanında lafı bile
olmaz belki ama buluşlar gündelik
hayatı da etkiliyor. Buzun keşfi
ve kullanımı, bunlardan biri. Buz,
sadece soğutmak için değil yeni
lezzetler için de kullanılıyor. Yaz
sıcağında kimi yiyecek/içeceklere
atılan buz parçaları dondurmanın
habercisi oluyor.
Daha sonra yeniden Çin’e
döneceğiz. Ama şimdi tarih
yumağını sarıp yüzyıllar sonrasına
gideceğiz. Tarih MS 54. Roma
İmparatoru Neron, bilinen
dünyanın en güçlü isimlerinden
biri olarak hükümranlığını
sürdürüyor. Roma sokakları;
fethedilen diyarlardan getirilmiş
yiyecekler, baharatlar ve kölelerle
dolup taşıyor.
Kölelerin çeşitli “görevleri” var.
Kimileri, Neron’un da seyrettiği
Arena şenliklerinde ölecek.
Kimileri, o şenliklerde Neron’a
sunulacak “tatlı” için dağlara kar
toplamaya gidecek.
Malum, tarih kitapları

cream.

AD. Roman
Emperor Nero
continues to
rule as one of
the most powerful
persons of the
known world. The
streets of Rome are full
of food, spices and slaves
brought from conquered
lands.
The slaves have
several “tasks”. Some
will die during the Arena
events watched by Nero as well.
Some will go to the mountains to
gather snow for the “desert” that
will be presented to Nero during
those events.
