Türklerle bütünleşmiş
hamam geleneğinin en
eski temsilcilerinden
biri de şüphesiz
İstanbul’daki Cağaloğlu Hamamı.
Burası, İstanbul’un en büyük çifte
hamamlarından biri. Yerebatan
yakınındaki hamam, I. Mahmut
döneminde, 1740/41 yılları
arasında yaptırılmış.
Yapı, Barok üslubuyla inşa
edilmiş. Soğukluk ve sıcaklık
bölümlerinin düzenlenişinde ise,
klasik Osmanlı mimarisinden farklı
özellikler görülüyor. Erkekler için
düzenlenen bölümde, büyük bir
kubbeyle örtülü soyunmalıktan,
küçük bir kubbe ve yedi tonozla
örtülü soğukluğa geçiliyor. Sıcaklık
da sekiz mermer sütunu bağlayan
kemerlere oturan büyük bir kubbe
ile örtülü. Ortada büyük bir göbek
taşı, köşelerde kubbeli halvet
hücreleri bulunuyor. Cağaloğlu
Hamamı, Sultan III. Mustafa
tarafından şehrin artan su ve
odun ihtiyacı nedeniyle 1768’de
büyük hamamlar yapılmasının
yasaklanmasından önce inşa
edilen son büyük hamam olması
nedeniyle önem taşıyor.
Kadınlar kısmının kapısı yandan
Hamam Sokağı’na, erkekler
kısmının klasik mukarnas başlıklı
iki mermer kolon arasındaki kapısı
ise ana caddeye açılıyor. Cadde
zamanla yükseltildiği için erkekler
kısmına 10 basamak merdivenle
inilmeye başlanmış. Ortada
sanat değeri yüksek,
fıskiyeli havuz
var. Pencereler
tromplar
arasında
üçer üçer
yer alıyor.
Kubbe
merkezinde
bir
aydınlatma
feneri bulunuyor.
Camegahta şirvan ve
şirvanda soyunma
odaları bulunuyor.
Camegahtan çift
kapı ile girilen
soğukluk yarım küre
küçük bir kubbe ve 7
adet beşik tonozla örtülü.
Kubbeler, kemerler ve kolonlar
ile taşınmakta. Külhan her iki
sıcaklığın da arka duvarları
boyunca devam ediyor. Bu arada,
şirket kuruluş tarihlerine göre
yapılan bir sıralamada 1741 tarihli
Cağaloğlu Hamamı en eski Türk
firması olarak gösterilmiş. Tarihi
hamamın böyle bir özelliği de var.
The Cağaloğlu Hamam in İstanbul
is surely one of the oldest
representatives of this tradition.
This is İstanbul’s one of the largest
double baths. The bath near the
Basilica Cistern was built during
the reign of Mahmud I, between
1740 and 1741.
The building is in the
Baroque style. The
arrangement of the
cool and hot rooms has
features different from
those of the classical
Ottoman
architecture.
In the men’s
quarters,
the
undressing
room
covered
by a large
dome leads
to the cold room
covered by a small dome
and seven vaults. The hot room
also is covered by a large dome
resting on arches connecting
eight marble columns. There is a
large navel stone at the center,
and domed private rooms at the
corners. The Cağaloğlu Hamam
was the last large bath built before
the ban imposed in 1768 by Sultan
Mustafa III on the construction
of large baths because of the
aggravated water and wood supply
problems of the city.
The side gate of the women’s
quarters opens to the Hamam
Street, and the gate of the men’s
quarters, located between two
marble columns with classical
muqarnas capitals, opens to the
main street. Since the street was
raised, a stairway with 10 steps
leads down to the men’s quarters.
There is an artistic pool with a
water jet at the center. There
are three windows between each
pair of squinches. There is a
skylight at the center of the dome.
The changing room contains a
shirvan, and the shirvan contains
undressing booths. A pair of doors
leads from the changing room to
the cold room covered by a small
hemispherical dome and 7 barrel
vaults. Domes are supported by
arches and columns. The boiling
room extends along the rear walls
of both hot rooms. By the way, in
a list prepared according to the
foundation dates of companies,
the Cağaloğlu Hamam dating
from 1741 is shown as the oldest
Turkish company.
Cağaloğlu Hamamı’nın
akustiği de övgüye değer.
Hamam zaman zaman
klip çekimlerine ve moda
gösterilerine de ev
sahipliği yapıyor
The acoustics of the
Cağaloğlu Hamam also
deserves praise. The bath
sometimes hosts video
clip shootings and fashion
shows as well
