• Employ the Mass Casualty Plan <strong>for</strong> evacuating the sick and injuried.<br />
3.1.13 Signage and Lighting<br />
The following questions <strong>for</strong> Consideration and Supporting Actions statements are useful<br />
in addressing the stadium’s Emergency Plan guidance and procedures <strong>for</strong> address<br />
emergency signage and lighting that may be used during an evacuation.<br />
Considerations<br />
• What signs are needed to ensure stadium spectators and participants know the<br />
best routes <strong>for</strong> evacuation from their particular location within the stadium?<br />
• What are the proper size and wording of the signs; where should they be located;<br />
who is in charge of setting them up?<br />
• What types of emergency lighting will be used in case of an evacuation? Where<br />
will it be used? Who is in charge of employing the lighting?<br />
Supporting Actions<br />
• Direct, post, and activate pre-positioned signage relating to emergency ingress<br />
and egress routes, mass-care staging areas, shelters, etc.<br />
• Activate emergency lighting, as appropriate, including flood lighting, lights<br />
powered by generators, and emergency stadium lighting to highlight paths away<br />
from the stadium.<br />
• Ensure security and other stadium personnel carry flashlights <strong>for</strong> nighttime<br />
operations.<br />
• Include in<strong>for</strong>mation on how emergency lighting should be set up.<br />
• Provide evacuation training to stadium personnel when utilizing emergency<br />
lighting.<br />
