The following month Khallid went on another Jew-baiting rampage, this
time belittling the Holocaust: “Tell us you lost 6 million. Historians, scholars,
scientists, they went to the death camps. ... It wasn’t 6 million, it wasn’t 5 million,
it wasn’t 4 million, it wasn’t even 3 million. ... Some of them say we’d be
hard-pressed to get 1 1 ⁄2 million. Reports on the six million Jews murdered by
the Nazis were bloated, exaggerated, probably fabricated.”
Aspiring for recognition by the principal black organizations, Farrakhan
saw no political advantage to being linked to Khallid, whose obscene characterizations
of Jews, women, gays, and the pope repelled many moderate
blacks. Expelled from the Nation, Khallid, who died in 2001, became a leader
in the New Black Panther party centered in Dallas and tried to court alienated
ghetto youth: “My greatest appeal is among the grassroots, the hard core, the
rough-necks, the gangsta-rap culture,” he said. 24 Black college groups continued
to invite him to speak at their campus. His address at San Francisco State
University in May 1997, which earned him a long standing ovation, was another
example of gutter antisemitism at its worst. Apparently Khallid, who
drove a Rolls-Royce (estimated value $140,000), purchased a large house in
Harlem’s best neighborhood (estimated value after refurbishing, $1 million),
and wore $2,000 custom-tailored suits and crocodile-skin shoes, did quite well
for himself on the lecture circuit.
THE S ECRET R ELATIONSHIP
BETWEEN B LACKS AND J EWS
In 1991 The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews was published under the
Nation of Islam’s imprint. The volume was prepared by the “Nation of Islam
Historical Research Department,” an unknown entity that has published nothing
before or since. The authors of Secret Relationship—their names are not
provided—intended to show: that Jews dominated the 400-year Atlantic slave
trade and were its principal beneficiaries; Jews owned a disproportionate number
of slaves; and the slave trade and chattel slavery constituted a holocaust far
worse in numbers and suffering than the Shoah. The slave vessels were “holocaust
ships” (p. 191); Jewish slave traders, slave owners, and militia members
were the perpetrators, the equivalent of camp guards, “much like the Nazis at
the concentration camps of Auschwitz, Treblinka or Buchenwald” (p. 207);
