Golf in Portugal ? Almost a year after entering the race to host Ryder Cup 2018, Portugal is looked at as one of the strongest candidates and has provided evidence that it assembles several arguments to win this challenge Comporta is the centre of the national application and it has been visited by several official entities and important people in the national and international golf scenario, which have revealed to be impressed by the unique conditions of the project. The national application is bases on a strong sense of legacy: for the country, it positions Portugal in the tour of the best destinations worldwide, generating revenue and creating wealth, and for the sport it drives more young people to play. One of the major goals of the Portuguese application is to make golf a popular sport in Portugal by increasing its visibility and the number of golfers, especially among the youngsters. To welcome the Ryder Cup 2018, Comporta Links will be built, a golf course that will be created “according to the highest standards defined by Ryder Cup Europe and the best environmental sustainability standards.
