Since its inception, EERE's industrial R&D programs (ITP and its predecessors) have had great<br />

success in the development and implementation <strong>of</strong> energy-efficient technology. ITP sponsored<br />

R&D has won 47 R&D 100 Awards' and 235 patents since 1990; additionally, over 190<br />

technologies have been commercialized, resulting in more than 5 quadrillion (cumulative) Btus<br />

<strong>of</strong> energy saved.<br />

Critical Operating Procedures<br />

ITP is managed by a program manager who is supported by two supervisors, two team leaders<br />

and one special assistant, providing program level support, budget and financial activities<br />

coordination, and one administrative support:<br />

* Technology Development -one team lead.<br />

* <strong>Energy</strong> Technology Delivery -one team lead<br />

In addition, there are fifteen (15) technology managers at headquarters with diverse technical and<br />

industry expertise supporting the program. ITP also uses the Golden Field Office and the<br />

National <strong>Energy</strong> Technology Laboratory to manage industry contracts and financial assistance<br />

agreements.<br />

R&D 100 awards, given out by R&D Magazine. are selected by an independent panel <strong>of</strong> judges based on the<br />

technical significance, uniqueness and usefulness <strong>of</strong> projects and technologies from across industry, govermnment and<br />

academia.
