with the rest of Mexico. While treatment<br />
admissi<strong>on</strong>s in the n<strong>on</strong>border area were dominated<br />
by alcohol, the primary drugs of abuse<br />
in states al<strong>on</strong>g the U.S. border were heroin and<br />
methamphetamine.<br />
• <str<strong>on</strong>g>Report</str<strong>on</strong>g>s from Seattle, Canada, and Detroit indicate<br />
that drug traffcking is of c<strong>on</strong>cern al<strong>on</strong>g<br />
the United States northern border as well as<br />
the southern border. The Seattle representative<br />
referred to law enforcement reports that<br />
MDMA is c<strong>on</strong>tinuing to be manufactured in<br />
British Columbia, Canada, and shipped to the<br />
United States through Washingt<strong>on</strong> State. Marijuana<br />
grown in British Colombia is also brought<br />
into the United States over the border.<br />
• The representative from Canada reported that<br />
marijuana c<strong>on</strong>tinues to dominate the number of<br />
drug exhibits/items seized by police and border<br />
services and submitted to Health Canada for<br />
testing.<br />
• The representative from Detroit reported that<br />
MDMA was being brought in across the United<br />
States–Canadian border and referred to interrelated<br />
patterns of gun and drug traffcking<br />
between Michigan and Canada using waterways<br />
and two bridges c<strong>on</strong>necting the two countries.<br />
Both bridges are sites for drug seizures,<br />
especially ecstasy and marijuana, transported in<br />
cars and trucks.<br />
