4.2.5.2 Objectives
i. The aim of the Young Planners Committee is to promote, support and represent young planners at a
national level via MIP or other professional organizations. The objectives and actions of the group over
the coming year will assist in this process and make the operations of the group more transparent and
also to ensure smooth transition of representatives and convenors via succession planning.
ii.
To recognized that the needs of those new to the planning profession were different to those of the more
experienced members
iii. To promote the enhancement of our professional services and capacity building to become competitive
locally and globally.
iv. To educate the future town planners (student/ graduate members of MIP) in preparing for professional
practice and the building industry;
v. To facilitate, represent and contribute to issues of importance to Young Planners.
vi. T o support and guide Young Planner groups and activities.
vii. To develop and maintain communication between Young Planners at all levels.
viii. To encourage Young Planners and students involvement in and membership of MIP.
ix. To promote planning as a career/ profession to potential students and increase awareness of planning
within the broader community.
x. To assist Young Planners in gaining experience and employment
xi. To efficiently and effectively administer the Young Planners group.
4.2.5.3 Committee Activities
a.) Mt Kinabalu Hiking Adventure
The event was successfully organized in collaboration with Promotion, Public Relation & Programme Committee.
from 4 th - 8 th September 2012. This adventure was participated by 18 members with 2 reporters from Utusan
Malaysia newspaper. The team was successfully raised MIP Flags at Low’s Peak, Mount Kinabalu on the dawn of
6 th September 2012. The article was published in Utusan Malaysia newspaper on 10 th September 2012.
