Make the Difference’. MIP has been invited as partners for the conference together with other
professional institutes (PAM, ILAM, RISM, ASM, etc.). The conference was held on 14 th - 16 th June 2012
at Istana Hotel, KL. Approximately, 500 participants attended the conference which consists of
representative from government servants, resident associations, students, business communities and
members from all the professional institutes.
The objectives of the conference are to raise the image of women in science, engineering and technology,
make women aware and strive to their full professional potential, acknowledge the contribution of women
to the nation building, improve women capabilities and contemplate the balance between work, family and
social.
Pn. Khairiah Talha from MIP has presented a paper on ‘Low Carbon Communities – Women as Agent of
Change’ where it discussed on low carbon communities (definition and the elements) and also highlighted
on the roles of women in the past and present have made in successfully driving changes in the mind sets
of the community in caring for the environment they live in.
c. One Way Street Workshop, Petaling Jaya
This workshop was held purposely for the Proposed One Way Street System at Jalan Utara, Jalan Barat
and Part of Jalan Sultan, Section 52, Petaling Jaya. It was held on 18 th October 2012 at the Banquet Hall,
Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Headquarters. It was a one day workshop which officiated by the
Deputy Mayor, Tuan Puasa bin Md Taib. A total of approximately hundred and twenty-two participants
from various backgrounds attended the workshop.
The workshop was designed and facilitated by Peter Cuming from Sustainable Futures Australia (SFA)
and MIP as co-facilitator and MBPJ providing support services including moderating grouping sessions. All
findings of the workshop has been submitted to MBPJ and published on The Star newspaper on 22 nd
January 2013.
d. Low Carbon Cities Framework (LCCF) – Workshop, Training and Conference
As the developer of LCCF, MIP continuously and actively involved in various workshops, trainings and
paper presentations to government servants, resident associations, students, business communities and
members from other professional institutes. Two (2) LCCF Advanced Training have been conducted in
2012 – one in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang and another one in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. Several workshops
also have been conducted for Sepang Municipal Council (MP Sepang), Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ)
and Miri City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Miri). Other than that, LCCF has been presented in many
conferences where the recent one was for ‘Sustainable Cities UTM – Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT)’.
