Greening Program
The mission statement of the university spells out its
commitment to contribute in the creation of an eco friendly
and healthy environment. Environment is one of the key result
areas of CSU which goals are to green the environmental
premises of CSU campus and to design a systematic
utilization of the available 200 hectares land area of Caraga
State University. Environmental Science is a flagship program
of the university in support to the Forestry, Agriculture, Mining,
and Environmental Research and Development thrust of the
institute.
The vermicompost and vermimeal
project of CSU contributed significantly
for the recycling of organic waste.
Several tree planting and greening
activities within the designated areas of
the campus and 200-hectare farm area
of the university had been conducted.
Agroforestry, Forestry and
Environmental Science students
monitor the survival of the planted
species and conduct replanting
activities.
Conservation of the Philippine
Indigenous tree species is the major
goal of the Rainforestation farming
project of CCESM. More than 1,000
native trees comprising around
dipterocarps species were planted
more than 10 years ago in a 2-hectare
area.
Annually, the NSTP conducts trainings/seminars and fora on
environmental protection and conservation where some of the
resource persons are from the University, and/or environmental agencies like DENR.
NORMISIST (like CSU) started to link with local and international organizations or its
implementation of Environmental Programs and Projects. The creation of CCESM with
government line agencies in CARAGA Region initiated the support from these
agencies for a unified implementation of environmental studies and management.
The CSU administration supports environmental projects and activities as
manifested in the issuance of Memorandum Orders.
In consonance to the CSU mandate, research and extension projects
were likewise undertaken in partnership with agencies and organizations
who are advocates of environmental conservation and sustainability.
