Famous for its homemade wine and herbal brandy, the Radej tourist farm stands
on a hill above Krško not far from the renowned Čatež Th ermal Spa.
On weekends by prior arrangement (as well as during the week for groups booked
in advance), Vidka prepares various home-cooked meals but is particularly
famous for her Sremič rolanka and fruit bread.
Nearest to Sremič is Krško, where visitors can visit the castle ruins, the late
Baroque Church of Sv. Duh, Valvasors house, and the Capuchin monastery,
while unlimited quantities of water and possibilities for sport and recreation
are available at the nearby Čatež Th ermal Spa. Th e Radejs take guests into the
surrounding Sremič hills with a horse and carriage, and your host, who loves to
play the accordion, provides a pleasant atmosphere.
At the end of an idyllic valley, surrounded by vineyards and a small deciduous
forest, stands the Pudvoi Tourist Farm in Stara vas in Bizeljsko.
Th e hostess, an excellent cook, makes the traditional Bizeljsko buckwheat cake in
the bread oven as well as many other delicious dishes. At the farm you can also
taste high quality wines, homemade brandy, apple cider, fruit, and fruit juices.
Along with the old farm, the Ogorevc family acquired two repnicas used by the
previous owner to store produce and fruit. Since repnicas, caves dug into siliceous
sand for storing crops, are a natural attraction of the Bizeljsko region, your fi rst
adventure awaits you right on the farm. Today the Ogorevcs have three repnicas.
Th e one they dug themselves is connected to the cellar and is used to store
homemade bottled wines. In this land of sandy soil there are also many other
sights that invite you to visit: the Nujčev oak tree, Bizeljsko Castle, the Brežice
Regional Museum, other repnicas, the Istenič champagne cellar, and much more.
Th ey can also take you swimming at the Čatež or Olimia thermal spas.
Visitors are always welcome at the farm in a village right under the parish
church.
Guests who choose to come can spend their day in a variety of ways. Th e farm is
especially suitable for lovers of archery, riding, rowing and basketball. It is also
very child-friendly, as housewife Petra is a kindergarten teacher well-aware of
the secrets of the sometimes ‘changeable’ ways of children. In the summertime
when the weather is nice, your hosts organise genuine children’s holidays, but
will also be happy to look after the babysitting should the parents wish to aff ord
themselves a short trip to nearby attractions.
Sv Vid, a wonderful viewpoint, is not far from the farm and may be reached
on foot. Other popular attractions include Mokrice castle, Kostanjevica with its
unique Forma Viva, the winegrowing hills of Bizeljsko and Brežice, while lovers
of aqua fun should never forget to visit Terme Čatež, a real magnet for children
on hot summer days.
Hungry guests are spoiled with various homemade delicacies such as cold cuts,
soups, stews, and meat dishes (roast port, lamb, suckling pig, chicken, and duck).
In winter they cook sauerkraut, matevž, and roasted blood sausage. Th ey off er
a local specialty they off er buckwheat potancelj. Homemade delicacies are well
