A very successful year of
Ballet for Brooke Smith
Brooke Smith (Year 7) a student at
Strictly Dance has enjoyed many
performance highlights with her
production of The Wizard of Oz
at the Conservatorium Theatre at
Southbank. She competed and
placed in many group and solo
Eisteddfods throughout the year
but her most notable award for
2012 was winning the ATOD Junior
Classical Scholarship in May. She
then travelled to Melbourne in July
and competed at an Australasian
competition where she was placed
4th. Most recently Brooke was
selected from over 180 boys and
for students, not only to write
Conway (Year 8) entered her short
story in the Statewide Independent
Education Union of Australia literary
competition and was awarded a
presented with her prize at a special
award ceremony.
Niamh also entered a Japanese
Speech Contest with the Modern
Language Teachers Association of
Queensland. The competition was
extremely demanding, with entrants
having to present lengthy speeches
about their family and free time
activities and in addition, respond
spontaneously to questions in
Japanese from the Judges. Niamh
did extremely well and was awarded
third in the competition.
