A time forreflectionBack to the beginning...Their year, as Seniors of the Class of2005, finally came to a close. Theyhad enjoyed the excitement of theYear 12 Formal, the trip to the snow, the Tree Planting Ceremony, finalexams, the last Speech Night andfinally, Graduation. As is tradition, our oldest studentswere led out from Final Assemblythrough the guard of honour, by theyoungest members of the school. After Valedictory in the Lingo LinTheatre, our graduates assembled inthe Northern Courtyard, the scene ofmany hugs, tears and the customarytossing of hats into the wind. The day before Graduation, our Year12 students took the traditional walkdown to the Junior School for a finallook at 'Where it all began'. TheSeniors were able to visit anyclassroom - they could choose that ofa younger sibling, a favourite teacheror opt to spend time visiting allgrades from Prep to Year 7. It wasan exciting time for all concerned. This year our younger studentseagerly awaited the arrival of theSeniors, ready to display their workand various projects. The Seniors,140 of them, converged on the 22classrooms and within minutes onecould hear laughter and cheersechoing around the Junior Courtyardand the Prep area. For the Year 12's it was a time ofreflection, for the Junior children itwas an enjoyable morning of sharingwith the Seniors. For many of theTeachers it was a proud but nostalgictime of realisation - all children growup to become sophisticated, matureyoung people.March 2006 THE ORACLE 5

The colony had to be situatedsomewhere in our solar system or anyother planet or moon, or in orbit aroundany other planet or moon. For the colonyto maintain self sufficiency, the studentshad to think about what to bring withthem and what structures to include in thedesign of the colony. They had to considerfactors that would affect their chances ofsurvival, then find ways to adapt to theirnew and strange environment.
