AIRTROL
The REEVES AIRTROL unit is a pneumatic shifting actuator for
remote manual control and automatic process control. When
used in open or closed loop control systems, the AIRTROL unit
automatically and continuously corrects operating speeds of
the MOTODRIVE unit to compensate for variations in materials
or processes such as temperature, liquid level, pressure,
weight, peripheral speed and proportional flow.
CHECK THESE FEATURES:
AIRTROL unit operates on standard 3 to 15 psi air signal from
any process instrument. Exclusive “Span Adjustment” makes it
possible to use the full signal... locking the 3 psi signal exactly
to minimum speed and 15 psi signal exactly to maximum
speed of the MOTODRIVE units. This applies to units of 2:1
speed range, as well as 10:1 (maximum) speed range.
REEVES
Refer to the chart below for selection. When ordering, be sure
to include nameplate data from the existing MOTODRIVE unit
so a Specification Change (MFC) can be issued.
A new stamped nameplate will be included in the kit and will
ensure that correct replacement parts are provided in the
future.

Exclusive contoured cam design results in output speed in
linear (straight line) relationship with instrument air signal over
entire speed range of the drive. This cam also permits the
control to be very sensitive yet stable throughout the speed
range of the drive.
REEVES AIRTROL units are useable in hazardous and
explosive environments by specifying the air supply solenoid
shut-off valve to be explosion-proof.
An electric solenoid air valve, which is normally supplied in
same voltage as the drive motor, shuts off the plant air supply
of the AIRTROL unit when the MOTODRIVE unit is stopped,
preventing the Airtrol from operating.
The MOTODRIVE AIRTROL package includes the AIRTROL
unit itself; the electric solenoid shut-off valve; and the plant air
supply line filter-regulator and gauge.

ULTIMA RETROFIT KITS
Retrofit kits are now available to convert a REEVES
MOTODRIVE unit to the ULTIMA design. These kits are ideal to
modify an existing MOTODRIVE unit to provide the ease and
simplicity of performing routine maintenance the ULTIMA drive
permits.
The kit replaces a MOTODRIVE beltcase with an ULTIMA
backplate, cover and control assembly. The kit also includes a
new belt, bushings, thrust bearing and variable shaft bearing.
All other components from the existing MOTODRIVE unit can
continue to be used.
These retrofit kits are only available for and usable on a
standard C-flow
MOTODRIVE unit. They are not adaptable to Z-flow, Trunnion
foot, Inverted Vertical assemblies, and units with brakes or
tachometers.
BRAKES
Brakes are standard C-face construction, and are mounted
directly to the variable shaft. On stopping, the load inertia is
overcome by the brake directly through the variable shaft.
The MOTODRIVE belt absorbs the motor inertia only. DODGE
D-Series brakes will be used where ever possible.
