Mechanical interlocking<br />

Electrical interlocking of two or three<br />

devices is used to create a remoteoperated<br />

source-changeover system. A<br />

mechanical interlocking system enhances<br />

the reliability of system operation.<br />

To ensure a continuous supply of <strong>power</strong>, certain electrical installations are<br />

connected to two <strong>power</strong> supplies:<br />

c A normal supply N;<br />

c A replacement supply R which supplies the installation when source N is not<br />

available.<br />

A source-changeover system <strong>switch</strong>es between the two supplies. The system may<br />

include an automatic controller which manages <strong>switch</strong>ing according to external<br />

conditions. A source-changeover system may comprise two or three <strong>circuit</strong><br />

<strong>breakers</strong> or <strong>switch</strong>-<strong>disconnectors</strong>.<br />

Interlocking of two devices using connecting rods<br />

The two devices must be stack mounted.<br />

This function requires:<br />

c An adaptation fixture on the right side of each device.<br />

c A set of connecting rods with no-slip adjustments.<br />

The complete interlock kit is supplied for assembly by the customer.<br />

Maximum vertical distance between the fixing planes: 900 mm<br />

Combinations of Masterpact Normal <strong>and</strong> Replacement devices<br />

The two devices must both be fixed devices or drawout devices to maintain correct<br />

alignment of the mechanisms.<br />

Interlocking of two or three devices using cables<br />

Using cables, the devices may be stack mounted or installed side-by-side.<br />

Interlocking of two devices<br />

This function requires:<br />

c An adaptation fixture on the right side of each device.<br />

c A set of cables with no-slip adjustments.<br />

Maximum distance between the fixing planes (vertical or horizontal): 2000 mm<br />

Interlocking of three devices<br />

This function requires:<br />

c An adaptation fixture (different for each type of interlocking) on the right side of<br />

each device.<br />

c Three sets of cables with no-slip adjustments.<br />

Maximum distance between the fixing planes (vertical or horizontal): 1000 mm<br />

Installation<br />

The complete interlock kit is supplied for assembly by the customer.<br />
