Indian animation-software company Pentamedia Graphics is tak<strong>in</strong>g a 51% stake
<strong>in</strong> Film Roman, the TV and film animator best known for its work on "The Simpsons," for
$15 million. Pentamedia has announced a series of recent ventures <strong>in</strong>volv<strong>in</strong>g
Hollywood animation companies of different sorts, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g a recent deal to acquire a
3% stake <strong>in</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e animator Stan Lee Media and a co-f<strong>in</strong>anc<strong>in</strong>g agreement with digital
studio Digital Doma<strong>in</strong> for one or more film projects.
In the wake of the Pentamedia deal, Film Roman will add to offshore facilities it
currently employs <strong>in</strong> Korea and the Philipp<strong>in</strong>es by utiliz<strong>in</strong>g Pentamedia sites <strong>in</strong> India, the
Philipp<strong>in</strong>es, S<strong>in</strong>gapore or Canada to produce its animated series and other projects.
"As the world cont<strong>in</strong>ues to shift to digital content, this alliance will give Film
Roman the vastly <strong>in</strong>creased resources and capabilities it needs to lead this field <strong>in</strong> the
21st century," says John Hyde, Film Roman's CEO.
