Minutes of the <strong>Belknap</strong> <strong>County</strong> Convention<br />
Meeting July 27, <strong>2009</strong> at 7:00 PM<br />
Members Present: Representatives Flanders, Pilliod, Arsenault, Millham, Russell,<br />
Merry, Nedeau Swinford, Fields, St. Cyr, Wendelboe, Miller, Veazey, Reever,<br />
Johnson and Boyce.<br />
Absent: Representatives Bolster and Stuart.<br />
Also present: Greg Goddard, Gunstock General Manager, <strong>County</strong> Administrator<br />
Shackett, members of the public and the press.<br />
Call to order/Public hearing on RAN (revenue anticipation note) for Gunstock:<br />
Chair Alida Millham called the full county convention meeting to order at 7:15<br />
PM and opened up the public hearing on the Revenue Anticipation Note request<br />
from the Gunstock Recreation Area. Chair Millham then opened the floor to Greg<br />
Goddard, Gunstock General Manager for an over view and updates. Mr. Goddard<br />
stated that Gunstock had an excellent year. Offering a number of different<br />
activities on their venue has certainly added to their revenue. They are currently<br />
doing lot of maintenance projects and general improvements throughout the area.<br />
Also, Mr. Goddard updated the <strong>County</strong> Convention that HB 253 passed the NH<br />
House and the Senate and he thanked the members, particularly Rep. Pilliod for<br />
championing this.<br />
Mr. Goddard stated that it has been 5 years since the resorts master plan was<br />
updated. A multi season recreation plan will be part of this process, which will<br />
be conducted over the next 6-9 months. Work has begun on the new lift that was<br />
approved; all the parts are on site and are ready to be assembled. All of the necessary<br />
concrete has been poured and they will be ready to move forward with that<br />
project.<br />
Mr. Goddard then requested approval from the Convention to borrow up to<br />
$950,000 in anticipation of next season’s revenues. Mr. Goddard stated that in<br />
2008, Gunstock only used $850,000 and believes that is the same amount that<br />
they anticipate to use in <strong>2009</strong>. Representative Merry asked Mr. Goddard what<br />
was the percent of interest projected. Mr. Goddard responded that $10,000 was<br />
budgeted, but current rates are around 2 percent which would most likely end up<br />
<strong>Belknap</strong> <strong>County</strong> Commissioners<br />
