Peace and Spirit ~ Third Haven Friends Meeting House
We believe God is present in every person
and that peace is preferable to war.
We gather in silent communal worship to
wait on the Spirit of God.
(Third Haven Welcome Statement)
Especially during
this season most
of us are feeling spiritual
and wishing for
peace and joy. For
for peace is a year
round practice. Peaceful is what I felt when
driving between the two brick pillars and
down the tree-lined drive to the Meeting
rippled glass windows allowed
some light to stream in on the rainy day that
I visited. Exposed beams hung overhead.
I could imagine Quakers arriving by
boat on the nearby headwaters of the Tred
Avon River to worship in this holy place,
now the oldest documented building in the
state. Two years were spent on the con-
