“Meet Mr. Mencken: An Hour with the Sage of Baltimore”
David Foster will be the guest speaker
for the Brown Bag Lunch Monday, January
7, 2013 at the St. Michaels Branch of the
Talbot County Free Library at noon. “Baltimore’s
H.L. Mencken was, and remains
today, one of the most influential, entertaining
and controversial writers who ever
took aim at the platitudes and delusions of
American culture. This recreation of
Mencken’s pungent wit, swash-buckling
style and icon-shaking spirit is sure to
arouse, offend and have you laughing out
loud.”
Throughout his career as a lawyer, po-
litical advocate and business executive,
Foster has pursued an amateur vocation in
theater as an actor, director, producer and
teacher of acting and stagecraft. He has
served as president of Oxford's Tred Avon
Players, and has appeared on its stage in
many roles. The Friends of the Library are
sponsors of the speaker series and everyone
is invited to bring lunch and enjoy coffee
and dessert provided by the library. All library
programs are free and open to the

CBMM Offers
Free Admission
December 7th-9th
During Christmas in
St. Michaels
Free admission to the 18-acre waterfront
campus and exhibits of the Chesapeake
Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in
St. Michaels, MD, is being offered during
the December 7th-9th Christmas in St.
Michaels celebration.
“Christmas in St. Michaels is such a
wonderful holiday celebration,” said
CBMM Vice President of Communications
Tracey Munson. “We wanted to offer free
admission to not only support the event’s
good works, but to also give everyone an
opportunity to visit the museum free of
charge.”
Established in 1987 as an annual
fundraiser supporting the St. Michaels
community, Christmas in St. Michaels features
several events including a parade, tour
of homes, gingerbread house competition,
marketplace and sweet shoppe, and more.
During the three day event, free admission
will be given to all CBMM visitors. General
admission is otherwise $13 for adults,
$10 for seniors, $6 for children 6-17, and
free for museum members and kids under
6.
The museum features a new “Push and
Pull: Life on Chesapeake Bay Tugboats”
exhibit as well as a floating fleet of historic
vessels, the 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse,
and many hands-on exhibits that share the
stories of how people live, work, and play
along the Chesapeake Bay. The museum is
open 10am to 4pm seven days a week, except
for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New
Year’s Day. For more information, visit
