The Diploma <strong>in</strong> <strong>Human</strong> Resource<br />
<strong>Management</strong> and Practices is useful<br />
for HR Practitioners who operationalise<br />
aspects of core processes and practices<br />
at a basic level across four role clusters<br />
<strong>in</strong> the field:<br />
•• strategic plann<strong>in</strong>g for people<br />
management <strong>in</strong> organisations;<br />
•• acquisition, development and<br />
utilisation of people;<br />
•• establishment and improvement of<br />
labour and employee relations;<br />
•• compensation and adm<strong>in</strong>istration<br />
related to people management.<br />

How will you be tra<strong>in</strong>ed?<br />
The Diploma <strong>in</strong> HRM is based on the<br />
registered HRM standards provided by<br />
SAQA. This implies that the course is<br />
very practical and covers foundational,<br />
practical and reflective components.<br />
three compulsory study schools take<br />
place every six months. Dur<strong>in</strong>g these<br />
schools, study groups are formed to<br />
ensure that you always have the support<br />
of colleagues and are able to <strong>in</strong>tegrate<br />
knowledge through group discussions.<br />
After the <strong>in</strong>itial study school, there is an<br />
additional assessment support session<br />
per module on a Saturday. The presenters<br />
of contact sessions are subject-matter<br />
experts with <strong>in</strong>dustry experience.<br />
Ongo<strong>in</strong>g learner support is provided<br />
telephonically and via the Internet and<br />
electronic mail.<br />
The full qualification consists of ten<br />
modules. Learners must complete all ten<br />
modules plus an <strong>in</strong>tegrated exam<strong>in</strong>ation.<br />
Subject to the atta<strong>in</strong>ment of the required<br />
results, a Diploma <strong>in</strong> HRM will be<br />
awarded.<br />
Another option is to enrol per module<br />
of your choice. For this option, learners<br />
are assessed and are awarded a modulespecific<br />
certificate upon successful<br />
completion of the course. Module credits<br />
are reta<strong>in</strong>ed and can be used towards<br />
further studies with<strong>in</strong> the follow<strong>in</strong>g three<br />
years.<br />
NQF credits<br />
The full diploma is equal to 250 credits on<br />
Level 5 of the NQF.<br />
The 24-month <strong>programme</strong> starts with<br />
a compulsory study school at the<br />
beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of each semester. Another<br />
