Programme overview<br />
The course is divided <strong>in</strong>to the follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />
five modules:<br />
Module 1:<br />
Fundamentals of the NQF<br />
This is an <strong>in</strong>troductory module for the<br />
learner to explore the foundational<br />
concepts <strong>in</strong> the ETD field. This <strong>in</strong>cludes<br />
exposure to the NQF, an outcomes-based<br />
approach to learn<strong>in</strong>g and an exploration<br />
of ETD <strong>in</strong> the South African context.<br />
Module 2:<br />
Deliver Adult Learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />
In the context of an exist<strong>in</strong>g learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>programme</strong>, carry<strong>in</strong>g out course<br />
adm<strong>in</strong>istration, def<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g target audience<br />
profiles and skills gaps, conduct<strong>in</strong>g<br />
targeted tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and development, and<br />
assist<strong>in</strong>g learners with language and<br />
literacy.<br />
Module 3:<br />
Provide Skills Development Support<br />
This module provides <strong>in</strong>sight <strong>in</strong>to and<br />
practise <strong>in</strong> coach<strong>in</strong>g learners on the job,<br />
assist<strong>in</strong>g and support<strong>in</strong>g learners to<br />
manage their learn<strong>in</strong>g experiences, and<br />
identify<strong>in</strong>g and respond<strong>in</strong>g to learners<br />
with special needs and barriers to<br />
learn<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
Module 4:<br />
Facilitate the Collection of<br />
Assessment Evidence<br />
This module is aimed at assist<strong>in</strong>g<br />
learners to facilitate the preparation and<br />
presentation of evidence required for the<br />
purpose of assessment.<br />
Module 5:<br />
Integrative Project/Exam<strong>in</strong>ation<br />
We believe that the ability to <strong>in</strong>tegrate<br />
theory, practice and reflection is best<br />
demonstrated through the completion of<br />
a workplace-based portfolio of evidence.<br />
As such, the f<strong>in</strong>al <strong>in</strong>tegrated exam<strong>in</strong>ation<br />
portfolio will br<strong>in</strong>g the various certificate<br />
outcomes together so that learners<br />
can demonstrate their operational<br />
competencies <strong>in</strong> the field of ETD.<br />
A study route without a ceil<strong>in</strong>g<br />
After obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the Certificate <strong>in</strong> ETD,<br />
learners may further their studies <strong>in</strong> the<br />
field of ETD by cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g with the Higher<br />
Certificate <strong>in</strong> ETD at NQF Level 5.<br />
Entry requirements<br />
The m<strong>in</strong>imum requirements for a<br />
prospective learner are:<br />
•• employed, but with little or no<br />
experience <strong>in</strong> ETD;<br />
•• m<strong>in</strong>imum Grade 12, NSC or<br />
equivalent with Mathematics and<br />
English (second-language level or its<br />
equivalent will be acceptable);<br />
•• fluency <strong>in</strong> English writ<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
speak<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
