Programme overview
The course is divided into the following
five modules:
Module 1:
Fundamentals of the NQF
This is an introductory module for the
learner to explore the foundational
concepts in the ETD field. This includes
exposure to the NQF, an outcomes-based
approach to learning and an exploration
of ETD in the South African context.
Module 2:
Deliver Adult Learning
In the context of an existing learning
programme, carrying out course
administration, defining target audience
profiles and skills gaps, conducting
targeted training and development, and
assisting learners with language and
literacy.
Module 3:
Provide Skills Development Support
This module provides insight into and
practise in coaching learners on the job,
assisting and supporting learners to
manage their learning experiences, and
identifying and responding to learners
with special needs and barriers to
learning.
Module 4:
Facilitate the Collection of
Assessment Evidence
This module is aimed at assisting
learners to facilitate the preparation and
presentation of evidence required for the
purpose of assessment.
Module 5:
Integrative Project/Examination
We believe that the ability to integrate
theory, practice and reflection is best
demonstrated through the completion of
a workplace-based portfolio of evidence.
As such, the final integrated examination
portfolio will bring the various certificate
outcomes together so that learners
can demonstrate their operational
competencies in the field of ETD.
A study route without a ceiling
After obtaining the Certificate in ETD,
learners may further their studies in the
field of ETD by continuing with the Higher
Certificate in ETD at NQF Level 5.
Entry requirements
The minimum requirements for a
prospective learner are:
•• employed, but with little or no
experience in ETD;
•• minimum Grade 12, NSC or
equivalent with Mathematics and
English (second-language level or its
equivalent will be acceptable);
•• fluency in English writing and
speaking.
