Our Temple Youth Shalom CHARLEY! CHARLEY I hope you have had a great vacation from school, filled with lots of good times, and maybe some CHARLEY events this past December? As always we have a busy month ahead of us! On January 8 th come one, come all, to our plenary where we will ratify the first ever CHARLEY constitution. Then on the weekend of January 13 th -January 17 th travel with us to Atlanta, GA for Winter Regionals with NFTY-SAR! This is a 9 th -12 th grade only event open only to dues-paying members. Go to www.nfty.org/sar to register and to www.mycharley.com to pay your dues if you haven’t done so! AND finally I hope to see you in the lounge on January 29 th as we do our monthly Sunday activity :-) HOPE TO SEE YOU THIS MONTH! Sammy Chavin CHARLEY President OUR TEENS NEED US! April 27-29, 2012 KKBE is hosting the Temple Youth Group Regional Spring Kallah. 250 teenagers will attend -- the largest number CHARLEY has ever hosted! It's very exciting, yet daunting. KKBE will house and transport the Kallah's attendees to and from events during the weekend so we need KKBE's congregants to step up to the plate. Won't you volunteer to house/transport the Kallah's young people during this special weekend event? You don't need to be parents of teens to serve. All you need is a willingness to help our Jewish youth enjoy worship and fun with other regional synagogue teens! Please call or email Cindy Zimmerman to learn about the weekend’s itinerary. News from Our VP of Programs Happy New Year!! It’s hard to believ e it’s 2012….where did the last y ear go? We’re ready for some quiet time to recover from Chanukah and the New Year and hope you are able to find some as well. For those of y ou w ho attended the Scholar-in-Residence weekend w e thank y ou. We also thank Sisterhood, LifeLong Learning, Dr. Zierler, Religious School, and the office, all of w hom made Scholar in Residence the huge success that it was. It w as v ery well attended. We thank all of y ou very much. January promises to be a fairly quiet month as we gear up for February’s Shabbaton, but there Frieda Bernstein & Rachel Morley are a few programs y ou should attend. Please join us for our monthly Congregational Dinner to share food and friendship. Then plan to attend the Martin Luther King gathering on January 8 th from 4-7pm. The East Cooper Shabbat is January 20 th at 7pm, and the Senior Shabbat is Saturday January 21 st from 10-11:30am. Watch y our mail and/or email for y our inv itation to join us for our Shabbaton in February – lots more info to follow ! But most of all – make this the beginning of a wonderful new y ear at KKBE.
