KA Gardeners As the Kindergarten year comes to an end our class will be enjoying farm fresh salad from the vegetables that we have been nurturing all winter. Our lettuce is ready and we are waiting for our tomatoes to ripen. We will also enjoy a visit to our local farm to see all the animals and foods grown in Manitoba. KBs on the Farm MOO… BAA…CLUCK…OINK…what’s all that racket in KB? We have been learning all about the farm. Here are some farm facts: Sheep give us wool. Pigs stay cool by rolling in the mud. Farmers use scarecrows to keep the birds away from their garden. Cows give us milk that we can use to make cheese, yogurt, butter and ice cream…yum! We had fun shaking a jar of cream so that it turned into butter! We all got to taste the butter with some bread. We celebrated our learning with a trip to Deer Meadow Farm. It was fun to meet a real-life farmer and see all the baby animals!
Oh, the Memories! Thinking Back on a Great Year in Grade 1A We have had a year filled with fun, learning, and successes in Room 1A! We spent some time thinking back on many of the special and exciting things we did together. Some of our favourite memories include: Learning about and taking care of our class pets - our stick bugs and fish Going on a bear hunt in our classroom Sharing learning with our families at Glavin Gala and Parent Teacher Interviews Having Miss Ilg in our classroom When Operation Santa came to visit our school Reading Elephant and Piggie books together and laughing so hard Using silly voices when we practice spelling words Show and Tell Friday Thank-you Meetings Doing art in groups with our friends Writing stories on the computer with our grade four buddies Working hard for Swamp Star cards Making our class brain that shows how we are smart Going to visit our Pencil Pals at John de Graff School Learning about numbers in Math We have truly had a great year together and made so many wonderful memories! Grade 1B Gives Free Advice! As the students in 1B are preparing to enter grade 2, we reviewed all of the learning that we have done this year and realised that we have really become experts at being “Grade 1ers”! We decided that we should share our advice with Kindergarteners so that they could get ready for entering Grade 1 in the fall time. Here is our advice for being a successful Glavin Gator in Grade 1: Sylvanna says “Do your homework!” Kolten says “ Learn your tallies!” Eston says ”Learn your subtracting!” Carson says “Lean about leprechauns!” Chris says “Learn your 2D shapes!” Shaheim says “No hats in school!” Shayna says “Learn your 3D shapes!” Chelsea says “Walk in the hall!” Parneet says “Stay in the lines when you are colouring!” Jasmin says “Learn to print your name with lowercase letters!” Ryan says “Clean up your toys after Choice Time!” Mykayla-Lynn says “Listen to other people and teachers!” Dut says “Put your shoes up on Fridays so they can clean the mats! Xander says “Be responsible for the equipment that you take out at recess!” Chriztian says “Learn how to walk down the hall to the bathroom!” Gabe says “Learn your human body parts!”
