4A Poetry
During our final term in grade 4, we have been studying Habitats and Communities and Manitoba. We have
learned how all things in a habitat (including the bugs) are interdependent on one another for survival. We have
learned that in Manitoba we need to work to protect the homes of all animals and plants, as well as our human
habitat by doing things such as recycling and watching our use of water. WE all depend on one another!
Grade 4/5 and Grade 5
Mrs. Bakke and Mrs. Benn
This term, our focus in class has been on weather and on the
people that settled in Canada and Manitoba. We were fortunate
to celebrate both of these by attending Lower Fort Garry on a
beautiful Friday in May. The students were treated to tours by
settlers, metis, and aboriginal actors who showed them how
each of these groups lived and interacted at Fort Garry in the
1800’s during the fur trade. We learned that Treaty #1 was
signed here, the North West Mounted Police trained here, and
it was also the location for Manitoba’s first jail. After a picnic
lunch, the students played ‘Artifact Bingo’ and learned more
about the tools and items important to the people of the day. It
was a very genuine experience and the students had a great
day!
