“In-School” youth, 19.1 per cent <strong>of</strong> males and 16.5 per cent <strong>of</strong> females received<br />

training (Table 2.13). However, a larger proportion <strong>of</strong> females received training in<br />

the other three categories: “Employed” (41.2 per cent), “Self -Employed” (37.3 per<br />

cent) and “Not Working” (30.1 per cent) compared with males.<br />

Youth who reported having received training, were asked whether they had<br />

also received a certificate from the training institution. Approximately 40.1 per<br />

cent <strong>of</strong> youth who received training, also received a certificate. “Self-Employed”<br />

youth reported the largest percentage <strong>of</strong> persons who received a certificate (62.8<br />

per cent), followed by “Employed” (58.1 per cent) and “Not working” youth (41.8<br />

per cent) (Table 2.14).<br />

<strong>The</strong> time period in which these youth were trained ranged from less than one<br />

month to six years. Approximately 33.4 per cent <strong>of</strong> youth who had received training<br />

stated that the training lasted for “6 months or less”, 31.3 per cent stated that<br />
