The specific objectives <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> RSR are:<br />
Introduction<br />
• To <strong>in</strong>form a wide audience <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> current state <strong>of</strong> knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong> issues <strong>in</strong><br />
LMB <strong>countries</strong> and across <strong>the</strong> region;<br />
• To provide up <strong>to</strong> date <strong>in</strong>formation on regional and national adaptation activities and<br />
policy and <strong>in</strong>stitutional responses <strong>in</strong> relation <strong>to</strong> <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong>;<br />
• To present <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong> a <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong> ‘gap analysis’ identify<strong>in</strong>g deficiencies <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>in</strong>formation and shortcom<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> planned activities and policy and <strong>in</strong>stitutional responses;<br />
• To present a series <strong>of</strong> recommendations for future actions related <strong>to</strong> <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
LMB.<br />
To achieve <strong>the</strong>se objectives, <strong>the</strong> RSR is structured <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> five parts:<br />
• Chapter 1 provides an <strong>in</strong>troduction and background <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> RSR;<br />
• Chapters 2 and 3 provide an overview <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> current state <strong>of</strong> knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> situation<br />
regard<strong>in</strong>g <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> region. They draw on <strong>the</strong> analyses carried out by LMB<br />
<strong>countries</strong> <strong>to</strong> provide an overview <strong>of</strong> current state <strong>of</strong> knowledge each has about <strong>climate</strong><br />
<strong>change</strong>;<br />
• Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7 identify <strong>the</strong> national policy and <strong>in</strong>stitutional responses, and<br />
adaptation activities currently be<strong>in</strong>g implemented or planned for future implementation;<br />
• Chapter 8 identifies <strong>the</strong> key activities be<strong>in</strong>g carried out at a regional level <strong>to</strong> address<br />
concerns about <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong>;<br />
• Chapters 9 and 10 document <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong> a gap analysis and conta<strong>in</strong>s recommendations<br />
for future actions.<br />
The RSR represents a syn<strong>the</strong>sis <strong>of</strong> numerous source documents prepared by LMB <strong>countries</strong> and<br />
<strong>the</strong> MRC. Chapter 11 provides a full list <strong>of</strong> references used <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> preparation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> national<br />
reports and <strong>the</strong> RSR.<br />
