Mission Statement:<br />
<strong>The</strong> mission of the School of Business Administration is to educate<br />
and develop leaders of principle to serve a global community.<br />
Admission Requirements:<br />
Applicants will be admitted to the MBA program on the basis of<br />
scholastic achievement and aptitude for graduate study. Other<br />
qualities appropriate to graduate study are also considered.<br />
Anyone holding a bachelor’s degree in business administration<br />
from an accredited college or university (one recognized by the<br />
Council for Higher Education Accreditation) is eligible for<br />
consideration. Students with an undergraduate degree from a<br />
discipline other than business who would like to pursue the MBA<br />
must fulfill admission requirements by the completion of the<br />
appropriate Foundation courses that are listed on page 29 of this<br />
catalog in addition to the other admissions requirements.<br />
All material must be received by the CGC office on or before the<br />
following dates to assure consideration to the MBA program.<br />

1. Complete and return a graduate application form, along with<br />
appropriate non-refundable application fee, to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong><br />
Graduate College (CGC), Bond Hall Room 101.<br />
2. An official transcript of the baccalaureate degree and all<br />
other undergraduate or graduate work directly from each<br />
accredited college or university. Applicants whose degrees are<br />
from colleges or universities outside the United States are<br />
required to have transcripts translated by an academic credential<br />
evaluation organization recognized by <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong> Graduate<br />
College.<br />
3. Take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) and<br />
submit an official copy of the scores to the CGC office. <strong>The</strong><br />
GMAT must be taken within the last five years for <strong>The</strong><br />
<strong>Citadel</strong> to accept the scores. Scores on other graduate entrance<br />
exams, such as the GRE, are not acceptable substitutes.<br />
4. Submit two letters of recommendation to the CGC office.<br />
<strong>The</strong>se may be from faculty members where undergraduate work<br />
was done and/or from associates in business or military service.<br />
Recommendations should be able to evaluate the applicant’s<br />
potential for graduate work in business.<br />
5. Submit a resume detailing previous work experience.<br />
6. Submit two brief essays that answer the following questions:<br />
a. How have your education, knowledge, experience and skills<br />
prepared you for graduate business education, and how<br />
will these help you contribute to the program’s educational<br />
community?<br />
b. What do you hope to gain from your graduate education, both<br />
during the process and in the future?<br />
7. Submit an official TOEFL score if the applicant’s native language is<br />
not English. <strong>The</strong> minimum score is 550 paper-based, 213 computerbased<br />
or 79 Internet-based.<br />
8. <strong>The</strong> MBA Committee and/or the MBA Director may request an<br />
interview with the applicant.<br />
Admission Denied: During the admission process, the applicant’s<br />
records will be reviewed and results communicated in writing.<br />
If the application is denied, an applicant may petition the MBA<br />
Committee through the MBA Director for reconsideration, citing<br />
any extenuating or mitigating circumstances.<br />
Program Requirements:<br />
Students that have an undergraduate business degree from an<br />
accredited college or university (e.g. AACSB accredited) are<br />
required to complete 36 hours of graduate study, including nine<br />
required courses and three elective courses. A maximum of two<br />
courses (6 hours) may be transferred in from an approved AACSB<br />
MBA program at another institution.<br />
Students are expected to complete all degree requirements within a<br />
six-year period from the time of registration in their first graduate<br />
course at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong>.<br />
Required courses: BADM 713, BADM 716, BADM 722, BADM<br />
728, BADM 731, BADM 734, and BADM 737 are required before<br />
taking the capstone course, BADM 740. Students must successfully<br />
complete these courses with a GPR of 3.0 or better before taking<br />
BADM 740. Any prerequisites for advanced or elective courses<br />
must be met.<br />
Course load: It is strongly recommended that students take no<br />
more than six hours per semester. Permission is no longer required<br />
to take more than six hours unless the student has provisional<br />
status. Students with provisional status must secure permission<br />
from the MBA Director to take more than three hours in a<br />
semester.<br />
Course of Study:<br />
Students from AACSB accredited undergraduate programs who<br />
meet the admissions requirements of <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong> MBA program<br />
will be allowed to begin MBA classes upon acceptance. This course<br />
of study will consist of 27 specific required hours (9 classes) and 9<br />
elective hours (3 classes) and will lead to the awarding of a general<br />
MBA from <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong> School of Business Administration. <strong>The</strong><br />
required courses in the general MBA are listed below and must be<br />
taken by every student.<br />
BADM 713 Communication for Leadership, 3 credit hours<br />
BADM 716 Legal and Ethical Environment For Decision Makers, 3<br />
credit hours<br />
BADM 719 Information Technology Management, 3 credit hours<br />
BADM 722 Leadership in Organizations, 3 credit hours<br />
BADM 728 Accounting for Executives, 3 credit hours<br />
