7. Governance and Accountability Structures The NDVAP rest on the premise that domestic violence and abuse can only be ended through a coordinated response. To facilitate this way of working the NDVAP has developed the following structure. Working Structure i. The Partnership will meet on a quarterly basis and will be chaired by an individual elected/chosen by the Partnership. ii. The Partnership will oversee the work of task groups. It will be responsible for setting the strategic agenda, approving work programmes of each task group and for ensuring targets are met. iii. The Community Safety Unit, Newcastle City Council, will provide officer and administrative support and will take responsibility for the production and dissemination of minutes. Only those members of the Partnership in active attendance and members of the various task groups will receive minutes. iv. Any member wishing to put items on the agenda for discussion/ information will contact the Community Safety Unit Domestic Violence Officer giving an outline of the item at least two weeks prior to a Partnership meeting. v. If a member fails to attend three meetings consecutively without submitting apologies they will be considered to be inactive members and may have their membership reviewed. Wider Structures and Consultation The Newcastle Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership will seek to make contributions to local, regional and national groups who are working on the issue of domestic abuse. The Newcastle Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership will align its work priorities to other relevant strategic partnerships e.g. Safe Newcastle, Newcastle Partnership. Governance Structure The Newcastle Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership will report to the Safeguarding Children Board and the Safe Newcastle Board.
