2010 GAME SUMMARIES<br />

The Pride scored the first seven goals of the game on the way to a 10-2<br />

halftime lead. Card opened the scoring 4:32 into the contest on a pass to<br />

the crease by Bentz. Lincoln made it 2-0 with his 19th of the season, off a<br />

perfect pass to the crease from Loizeaux. Bentz notched his 16th of the year<br />

from Card on a similar pass to the crease with 4:32 to play in the quarter.<br />

<strong>For</strong>d, playing in his second game of the season, notched his fourth of the<br />

year on a bullet from 12 yards to give Hofstra a 4-0 lead with 3:31 to play<br />

in the quarter. Loizeaux recorded his 10th of the season, from Bentz, with<br />

2:18 remaining, and Lincoln closed out the scoring in the period with his<br />

second of the game and 20th of the season on a cross-field pass from Card<br />

with two seconds remaining in the first. Hofstra outshot Army 14-6 in the<br />

first quarter.<br />

The second quarter wasn’t much better for the Black Knights of Army as<br />

Card boosted the Pride lead to 7-0 with his second of the game and 13th<br />

of the year, from <strong>For</strong>d, from 15 yards out just 50 seconds into the second<br />

quarter. Army got on the board less than two minutes later, on an extra-man<br />

goal when Tyler Seymour scored his 10th of the year from Rob Mc<strong>Call</strong>ion.<br />

But <strong>For</strong>d and Bentz scored 83 second apart to boost the lead to 9-1 with<br />

eight minutes to play in the half. Mc<strong>Call</strong>ion recorded his third of the year<br />

with 4:40 to play from Devin Lynch to close the gap to 9-2.<br />

But Lincoln scored his third of the game and 21st of the year from Card<br />

with 3:12 left in the half to close out the scoring in the second and start<br />

another 8-0 run.<br />

Card scored a man-up goal early in the third quarter with <strong>For</strong>d notching his<br />

third of the game 89 seconds later. Card scored twice in the fourth and was<br />

followed by freshman Drew Coholan, who notched his first college goal,<br />

senior Dan Stein, who scored his fourth of the year, and freshman Aaron<br />

Jones, who also tallied the first goal of his career.<br />

Hofstra outshot Army 48-18 and picked up 45 ground balls to Army’s 29.<br />

APRIL 3 AT #11 DREXEL:<br />

Freshman Robert Church scored his seventh goal of the game with 50<br />

seconds remaining to break an 11-11 tie and lead the 11th-ranked Drexel<br />

Dragons to a 13-11 CAA victory over the eighth-ranked Hofstra Pride at<br />

Vidas Field.<br />

Hofstra was led by junior attackman Jamie Lincoln with three goals and<br />

three assists. Freshman Adrian Sorichetti added three goals and junior<br />

Stephen Bentz chipped in with two goals and one assist. In addition to<br />

Church, Drexel received two goals and two assists from senior Ryan West,<br />

one goal and two assists from junior Kevin Stockel, and two goals from<br />

senior Colin Ambler.<br />

After being tied at 7-7 at halftime, the Pride opened the second half with<br />

two goals in the first six minutes as senior Dan Stein notched his fifth of the<br />

season, from Bentz, 48 seconds into the third, and Bentz notched his first of<br />

two and the 19th of the season, from Steven DeNapoli, with 9:56 to play in<br />

the period to give the Pride a 9-7 lead. Ambler scored the first of two goals<br />

on the day two minutes later for Drexel but Bentz notched his 20th of the<br />

year, from Stein, with 31 seconds to play in the quarter to give the Pride a<br />

10-8 advantage after three quarters.<br />

Church, who tallied five goals in the first half, scored his sixth goal 3:36<br />

into the fourth quarter to bring the Dragons back to within one at 10-9. But<br />

Lincoln <strong>com</strong>pleted his sixth “hat-trick” of the season and his 24th goal of<br />

the season 69 seconds later to give the Pride a two-goal cushion at 11-9. It<br />

would be Hofstra’s last goal of the evening.<br />

Less than two minutes later, Ambler took a pass from West and beat<br />

Hofstra freshman goalie Rob Bellairs (8 saves) to cut the gap to 11-10.<br />

Stockel then notched his 14th of the year with 5:23 to play to tie the game<br />

at 11-11. The Pride had a chance to break the tie on a man-up situation<br />

with Matt McCormick off for a cross-check with less than two minutes to<br />

play. But Drexel sophomore Mark Manos stopped a Jay Card bullet from<br />

10 yards out.<br />

On the game-winning goal, Church, in the middle of the box, took a pass<br />

from Stockel and fired a low bullet past the left side of Bellairs to give the<br />

Dragons their first lead since a 7-6 advantage in the second quarter. The<br />

Pride had a chance to tie the game after the ensuing face-off was won by<br />

John Antoniades. But the freshman’s shot was stopped by Manos. Drexel<br />

added its final goal by West with seven seconds to play with Bellairs out of<br />

the goal and the Pride on a full-field ride.<br />

The first half of the contest featured five tied scores and two lead changes.<br />

The two teams split the first four goals with Church opening the scoring<br />

58 seconds into the contest only to have Lincoln and Sorichetti score for<br />

the Pride to give Hofstra a 2-1 lead. But Drexel would score the next three<br />

goals as Church scored twice around a West goal to give the Dragons a 4-2<br />

lead with 13:16 to play in the half. Hofstra’s Brad Loizeaux notched his<br />

11th goal of the season and Church added his fourth of the game to keep<br />

the Dragons ahead by two at 5-3.<br />

But the Pride would score four of the next six goals, with Sorichetti adding<br />

two, Lincoln adding his second goal of the game and adding three assists<br />

during the run, and Jay Card tying the game with a man-up goal, from<br />
