Association <strong>of</strong> Parliament and <strong>Government</strong>al <strong>Libraries</strong> <strong>of</strong> Germany (APBB) and<br />

co-founder <strong>of</strong> the Thuringian Association <strong>of</strong> <strong>Government</strong>al <strong>Libraries</strong> (THABB).<br />

She has been a member <strong>of</strong> the committee on <strong>Guidelines</strong> in <strong>Government</strong> <strong>Libraries</strong><br />

Section <strong>of</strong> <strong>IFLA</strong> and a Corresponding Member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Government</strong> <strong>Libraries</strong><br />

Section <strong>for</strong> five years. For the term 2007 - 2011 she is a standing committee<br />

member <strong>of</strong> <strong>Government</strong> <strong>Libraries</strong> Section <strong>of</strong> <strong>IFLA</strong>.<br />

Sue Westcott currently works in the ICT Division in the UK Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Communities and Local <strong>Government</strong>. She has worked in four UK government<br />

departments in her career in a variety <strong>of</strong> library and in<strong>for</strong>mation roles. She also<br />

spent a year on secondment as head <strong>of</strong> in<strong>for</strong>mation management at the<br />

International Secretariat <strong>of</strong> Amnesty International. She is currently secretary <strong>of</strong><br />

the Committee <strong>of</strong> Departmental Librarians, the UK Committee <strong>of</strong> Heads <strong>of</strong><br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong> <strong>Government</strong> <strong>Departments</strong>, and has in the past been a councillor<br />

representing the government sector on the national committee <strong>for</strong> the UK<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional body CILIP.<br />

Jane Wu holds university degrees from the Universities <strong>of</strong> Manitoba<br />

(Mathematics) and Alberta (Library Science) and St John's University, New York,<br />

N.Y. (MBA). A believer in life-long learning, she has also completed a number <strong>of</strong><br />

university courses as a special student. She has been Chief Librarian at the<br />

David Lubin Memorial Library, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) <strong>of</strong> the<br />

United Nations, Rome, Italy since August 1993, a time <strong>of</strong> great transition <strong>for</strong> the<br />

Organisation and <strong>for</strong> the Library. Prior to this she held a number <strong>of</strong> positions <strong>of</strong><br />

increasing managerial responsibility in the Canadian federal government, in the<br />

National Library <strong>of</strong> Canada, Cataloguing Department, Canadiana and the<br />

Canadian MARC Office, the Canadian Department <strong>of</strong> Justice and the Canadian<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Agriculture. She has been active in <strong>IFLA</strong> since moving<br />

to international librarianship, authoring a number <strong>of</strong> papers and poster sessions,<br />

editing a compilation <strong>of</strong> papers <strong>for</strong> the <strong>Government</strong> In<strong>for</strong>mation and Official<br />

Publications Section (GIOPS), and serving as a member <strong>of</strong> the GIOPS Standing<br />

Committee <strong>for</strong> two full terms, first as In<strong>for</strong>mation Officer, then as Secretary and<br />

finally as Chair from 2005 to 2007. She was recently (2007) nominated as a<br />

Standing Committee member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Government</strong> <strong>Libraries</strong> Section.<br />
