The Passion Award<br />

The Passion Award, introduced in 2005 is to acknowledge dedicated<br />

and committed student teachers for their invaluable service to the<br />

<strong>NIE</strong> community.<br />

A maximum <strong>of</strong> 12 such awards is given annually to final year student<br />

teachers who satisfy the following selection criteria:<br />

1. Served the <strong>NIE</strong> community consistently and whole-heartedly<br />

during their programme <strong>of</strong> study at <strong>NIE</strong><br />

2. Initiated and organized activities that added vibrancy to<br />

student life on campus<br />

3. Promoted the brand name <strong>of</strong> <strong>NIE</strong> through activities and<br />

projects<br />

4. Contributed time and effort beyond the call <strong>of</strong> duty<br />

5. Played a significant role in recruiting student teachers for<br />

student activities<br />

6. Should have at least passed their final year examinations<br />

and Practicum<br />

An Honour category for the award is given to two most deserving <strong>of</strong><br />

the awardees in the area <strong>of</strong> service to <strong>NIE</strong>.<br />

Nominations are invited from staff and student teachers for the<br />

award. The candidates will be selected and recommended to Dean/<br />

Teacher Education and Director/<strong>NIE</strong> for approval by a selection<br />

board.<br />

The award and a certificate <strong>of</strong> recognition are presented to the<br />

awardees during Teachers’ Day celebrations in <strong>NIE</strong> every year.<br />
