ACADEMIC WARNING, PROBATION AND DISMISSAL<br />
Student teachers sponsored by the Ministry <strong>of</strong> Education, whose<br />
work is unsatisfactory, may be given a series <strong>of</strong> warnings by<br />
<strong>NIE</strong>/MOE. The following indicates 3 categories <strong>of</strong> warnings in<br />
ascending order <strong>of</strong> severity and the consequences:<br />

Unsatisfactory<br />
Performance<br />
Maintain a minimum CGPA <strong>of</strong> 2.00 and<br />
completing less than 75% <strong>of</strong> the normal<br />
Academic Unit workload<br />
Warning Letter<br />
Academic Warning<br />
Obtain a CGPA <strong>of</strong> less than 2.00 for<br />
any given semester<br />
Warning letter; and<br />
placed on half-pay<br />
Academic Probation<br />
Obtain a CGPA <strong>of</strong> less than 2.00 for<br />
the following semester<br />
Warning letter; and<br />
placed on no-pay<br />
Student teachers will be placed back on full-pay if they are restored<br />
to good standing in the next semester. There will not be any<br />
retrospective payments <strong>of</strong> salary. Student teachers will be given<br />
Academic Termination to their programme <strong>of</strong> study and liable to pay<br />
liquidated damages to the Government in one lump sum if they still<br />
fail to restore themselves to good standing or obtain a CGPA<br />
(cumulative grade point average) <strong>of</strong> less than 2.00 for the 3 rd<br />
consecutive semester / at the end <strong>of</strong> the final semester <strong>of</strong> study.<br />
