He is coming from work, with a messenger bag and some<br />

envelopes in hand. He sees Kate in bed, asleep in an<br />

awkward position with a book on top of the covers and the<br />

reading light on. He comes to pick up the book, places it<br />

on the bedside table and turns the light off.<br />

Kate opens her eyes, awake, and sees Elliot going into<br />

the bathroom.<br />

INT. ELLIOT AND KATE’S APT, BATHROOM - NIGHT<br />

Elliot is washing his hands in the bathroom sink. He<br />

looks at himself in the mirror for just a brief moment,<br />

and seems disappointed at his own image. He looks down at<br />

his hands again, and washes them thoroughly, letting<br />

water run through them.<br />

INT. ELLIOT AND KATE’S APT, BEDROOM - NIGHT<br />

Elliot comes from the bathroom wearing boxer shorts and<br />

an old T-shirt. He finds Kate reading the book in bed,<br />

pencil in hand.<br />

How was it<br />

Good.<br />

And Jeremy<br />

ELLIOT<br />

KATE<br />

He gets into bed, gives his wife a kiss on her cheek and<br />

turns the other way to lie down under the covers.<br />

ELLIOT<br />

Better than we could’ve ever<br />

expected.<br />

KATE<br />

See, I told you.<br />

I know.<br />

ELLIOT<br />

KATE<br />

I called to see if you were coming<br />

to dinner.<br />
