of study will be recorded on the transfer form. The Programme Convenor
may consult the relevant Dean and/or Chair of Examiners but, in all cases,
the decision of the Programme Convenor is final.
6.7. Students who have been awarded a qualification by the University may
not enter again for that same qualification in the same subject or branch
of study. However, a student may register again for the same qualification
(e.g. MA) in a different subject or field of study, provided that on each
occasion the student registers anew and complies with all regulations for
the qualification as if entering for the first time.
6.8. Students who have already been awarded a qualification may, at the
discretion of the College, register for a supplementary course of study
(normally in the form of additional modules) and may enter the
corresponding assessment after the appropriate period of study. On
completion, such students will receive a transcript of achievement.
7. Communications to individual students
7.1. Communications sent from the College to an individual student must be
regarded as applying to that student only.
8. Approved programmes of study
8.1. Except when registered as visiting students or, exceptionally, to study
individual modules not leading to a qualification, students must follow a
programme of study approved by the Academic Board to lead to a
qualification. Programmes of study offered must comply with criteria
specified by the University of London (detailed in regulations 25.1 and
53.1), with the national framework for higher education qualifications, and
with criteria and structures approved by the Academic Board of the
College.
8.2. The duration of each programme of study and its component elements,
both core and optional, are published in the approved Programme
Specification, to which supplementary information may be annexed
detailing transitional arrangements following an approved amendment.
8.3. An approved programme of study must normally be pursued continuously.
The College may, however, at its discretion grant a student An
interruption of study on grounds of illness or other adequate cause,
normally provided that the period of interruption does not exceed two
years and provided also that the total duration of the student’s programme
of study does not exceed the maximum period set for the currency of
credit for the award. (See also Regulations 9.5, 26 and 55.3)
8.4. A Visiting Student may register to take a programme of modules at a level
for which he or she is academically prepared, which may be drawn from
more than one Heythrop programme. Programmes for visiting students
must be agreed between the student, staff responsible for Visiting
Students, and relevant module teachers, in the light of the students’ prior
and intended future studies and the requirement of his or her home
