elsewhere, the student will normally be required to take and be assessed
in an alternative module.

9.2. Credit given for study undertaken elsewhere may not normally exceed
two thirds of the content of the approved programme. The Ordinances of
the University of London provide “that the minimum period of registration
in the College shall be not less than one third of the normal full-time or
part-time study prescribed for the programme concerned” and “that the
assessment undertaken by a student shall in all cases include assessment
at the final level of the award”3. In exceptional circumstances, and with the
approval of the Programme Convenor, the relevant Dean and the Chair of
the relevant Board of Examiners a student may be given credit for
successful study elsewhere in respect of up to two thirds of a first degree
programme and up to half of a taught Masters degree programme. The
dissertation element of a taught Master’s programme must be assessed at
the College. The College will not admit students with a Postgraduate
Diploma to complete a Masters Degree by taking the dissertation only.
9.3. To ensure that an advanced or transfer student meets the objectives of
the programme of study and is appropriately prepared to continue on the
programme, the Programme Convenor may make admission conditional
upon the undertaking of preparatory or supplementary studies (which may
include English Language study) or upon the inclusion of particular
modules to be taken by the student. Any such conditions shall be
expressly agreed in writing by the College and the student before
admission.
9.4. Applicants wishing to enter a programme as advanced or transfer students
will not be accepted if there is any outstanding disciplinary matter or any
debt to the previous institution. An applicant for transfer must have been
eligible to continue in his or her previous institution. An applicant for entry
as an advanced student will not normally be accepted if there is any
outstanding assessment or reassessment in the previous institution.
9.5. To safeguard the currency of the student’s knowledge and understanding
in relation to the date of the award, the period between the student’s first
registration on the previous programme of studies, for which credit is
given, and the date of the University of London award conferred on
completion of the programme of study at Heythrop shall not normally
exceed ten years.
9.6. The same period of study and assessment may not be credited towards
awards at the same level conferred by Heythrop and by any other
institution, except where:
(a) a programme leading to joint or dual awards has been approved by the
Academic Board with the consent of the University, or
