SERVICES AND FACILITIES
LOCATION / ADDRESS Turitea, Rehab Road.
COMMUNITY Caters for age range 18 to early 20s.
AVAILABILITY Rooms available for full semester periods.
Prioritised for students new to study at Massey.
ROOMS 50 single rooms in each hall.
EACH BEDROOM HAS King-single bed and bed linen,
noticeboard, wardrobe, heating, study chair, desk, shelving,
rubbish bin.
EACH HALL HAS Common room, one shower and one
toilet per four residents, kitchen with snack-making
facilities, laundry facilities, plasma TV and Sky connection,
recreation facilities (Kanuka/Karaka).
KANUKA AND KARAKA COMMONS In addition to their
own common room, each hall has access to a shared large
common building - Kanuka and Karaka. There are two
shared laundries with washing machines and dryers. There
is a large common area with a large plasma screen, TV/Sky
connection, kitchen facilities and computer lab.
TECHNOLOGY SERVICES Both Kanuka and Karaka
commons have mini computer labs with eight universitynetworked
computers and printer. Very close to the
undergraduate and postgraduate computer labs on
campus. Telephone line in each room. A broadband
Internet connection is available at a cost to the resident**.
SUPPORT Two Residential Advisers per 50 students.
Accommodation Services oversee community wellbeing
and social activities. Short walk to free on-campus student
services including Medical Centre, Student Counselling
and Centre for Teaching and Learning.
SECURITY All rooms have door locks, exterior doors have
swipe-card access for residents only. 24-hour security staff
patrol campus and are available for assistance.
MEALS These halls are catered halls, and a meal package
is incorporated in the accommodation fees.

TRANSPORT One-minute walk to central bus stop on
campus, regular free bus service to the city and between
Turitea and Hokowhitu campuses. Additional free bus
service to and from the city on Thursday and Saturday
nights.
PARKING Limited secure parking available in the Workshop
Road and Matai carparks, with back-up parking in the
Orchard Road carpark. The cost is $80 per semester, plus a
$20 refundable bond*.
STUDY-RELATED SERVICES Study groups for specific first
year papers. Close to Centre for Teaching and Learning,
Library, Fale Pasifika and Kāinga Rua support services.
SPORT, LEISURE AND CULTURE Regular inter- and intra-hall
social, cultural and sporting activities. Close to Library,
Music and Performance Room, International Community
Centre, Recreation Centre, sports fields and courts, and
short walk to all-weather athletic track and Equestrian
Centre.

CATERS FOR DISABILITIES No special services provided.
**All rooms have data points installed which connect to InspireNet (ISP). Cables
and access cards (supplied by InspireNet) for these data points are available at the
Residential Services Office.
*2013 rate to be confirmed.
Please note that Matai Hall is under a 31 week contract arrangement. This means that
students will have to shift out of their rooms during the mid-semester breaks (April and
August), 2 weeks each and at semester break (June-July) 3 weeks.
