PROFESSIONAL AND CONTINUING<br />
EDUCATION (PaCE)<br />
The Centre for Professional and Continuing Education<br />
offers programmes at all three campuses including the:<br />
Direct Entry English Pathway, English Language (ESOL),<br />
and Certificates in Foundation Studies and <strong>University</strong><br />
Preparation. The Centre also delivers professional<br />
development, international and university preparation short<br />
courses. PaCE organises homestay accommodation for<br />
students and short course participants while studying. Call<br />
0800 MASSEY <strong>to</strong> contact your closest PaCE support staff.<br />
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS<br />
The International Student Support Office (ISSO) at each<br />
campus provides comprehensive advice and welfare<br />
services <strong>to</strong> all international students, and is also a<br />
resource centre for students and their families. ISS staff<br />
can assist you <strong>to</strong> work through any difficulties you may<br />
experience while studying in New Zealand.<br />
ONLINE TOOL SET<br />
A range of new online <strong>to</strong>ols are available <strong>to</strong> help you plan<br />
your studies and <strong>to</strong> provide you with support as you go.<br />
LEARNING SUPPORT<br />
The Centre for Teaching and Learning is an academic<br />
learning support service that helps students <strong>to</strong> be<br />
successful in their university study. It helps with essay<br />
and exam preparation and study techniques, gives advice<br />
on preparing written and oral presentations and helps<br />
students <strong>to</strong> get the best out of lectures and tu<strong>to</strong>rials.<br />
In February of each year, short study skills courses are<br />
offered for first-year students.<br />
MATHS FIRST<br />
The Maths First website (http://mathsfirst.massey.<br />
ac.nz) is designed <strong>to</strong> promote individual learning<br />
in mathematics and is committed <strong>to</strong> helping you<br />
achieve success in your studies. You’ll find<br />
resources, exercises and quizzes on several<br />
<strong>to</strong>pics including arithmetic, algebra,<br />
trigonometry and calculus that will help<br />
you brush up your numeracy skills.<br />
LIVING AT MASSEY > TE NOHO KI KŌNEI<br />
MEDICAL<br />
All campuses have health professionals<br />
including doc<strong>to</strong>rs, nurses, counsellors<br />
and physiotherapists working at the<br />
centres. In addition <strong>to</strong> this the Albany and<br />
Welling<strong>to</strong>n Campuses also have a nutritionist<br />
available. Visits <strong>to</strong> the doc<strong>to</strong>r are generally free if you<br />
are Primary Health Organisation (PHO) enrolled with the<br />
service.<br />
STUDENT COUNSELLING<br />
A counselling service operates on all campuses <strong>to</strong><br />
assist students who may be experiencing personal and<br />
emotional problems, study difficulties or family concerns.<br />
Staffed by professional counsellors, psychologists and<br />
psychotherapists, the services offer individual and<br />
confidential support, workshops and support free-ofcharge,<br />
<strong>to</strong> all students.<br />
WOW<br />
WOW seminars are specifically designed <strong>to</strong> support<br />
student development. Seminars cover a range of <strong>to</strong>pics<br />
<strong>to</strong> encourage: self-management, self-awareness, skill<br />
development, self-care, healthy choices for physical and<br />
psychological wellbeing and healthy relationships.<br />
