Geneva, Switzerland 8 – 13 May 2011<br />

Significance: A strong Mayor’s Statement part of outcome, reinforcing continuation of<br />

the Campaign to 2015 and need for decentralized capacities. The UN-Sasakawa Award<br />

rewarded innovative DRR in cities; laureates were San Francisco, Cebu (Philippines);<br />

Santa Fe (Argentina); North Vancouver (Canada).<br />

Event: ICLEI 2nd World Congress on <strong>Cities</strong> and Adaptation to Climate Change<br />

Bonn, Germany 3 – 5 June 2011<br />

Significance: Workshop to revise Local Government Self-Assessment Tool and plan 25<br />

cities pilot with ICLEI and GFDRR funds.<br />

was established – has accelerated sign-up and city-to-city cooperation in Europe, chaired<br />

by Italy.<br />

Event: Local Government Self Assessment Tool Workshop (UNISDR and ICLEI)<br />

Incheon, Republic of Korea 20 - 21 October 2011<br />

Significance: 25 representatives of cities and national governments who tested the Local<br />

Government Self Assessment Tool evaluated use, modified content and prepared roll-out<br />

plan with UNISDR linked to HFA monitoring.<br />
