FAYETTEVILLE, NC—<strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> Model United Nations Team received<br />

multiple awards at the 2011 Carolina’s Model United Nations Conference. This scholastic<br />

competition was hosted on the campus of the <strong>University</strong> of North Carolina at Charlotte. Fifteen<br />

<strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> students attended this conference. Jasmina Gobeljic and Stephanie Tanksley,<br />

representing the country of Poland, jointly received a Distinguished Delegate Award. Mariama Jabati and<br />

Esra Al-Shawafi, representing Kuwait, jointly received an Honorable Mention Delegate Award. As a<br />

group, the MU delegation was selected for the Position Paper Award. This is the top award for the<br />

Conference. Other students attending the conference included Immaculate Apchemegich, Mohammad<br />

Darkhawaja, Emina Efendic, Ammar Hasan, Lois Hammond, Qendresa Krasniqi, Filip Lazarevic, Natalie<br />

Mathews, Stefan Medan, Clement Nyoma, and Salam Saadi. A total of 155 students from North<br />

Carolina and the southeast US participated in the two day academic competition. The MU team is led by<br />

Frank J. Trapp, PhD, Professor of Political Science at <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

<strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> is an independent four-year institution of higher education with over 2,400<br />

students from 41 states and 53 countries. <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> offers over 70 majors and concentrations,<br />
