FAYETTEVILLE, NC— <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> has been named a participating partner of<br />
the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative. <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> is the first private<br />
university to be admitted. The Child Welfare Course is designed to provide practice knowledge and skills<br />
for students preparing for positions in public Child Welfare and other child serving organizations.<br />
Students who have been admitted to the Social Work major are eligible to take the course and<br />
apply as a Child Welfare Scholar for the Collaborative funding. Students are eligible for all aspects of<br />
Child Welfare employment after the course and a field Internship in Child Welfare. BSW students<br />
planning to do their four hundred (400) hour field Internship in a Public Child Welfare field placement in<br />
a North Carolina County Department of Social Services must complete the course and receive a minimum<br />
grade of “B”. Additionally, Field Internship in a Public Child Welfare Agency (NCDSS) requires a GPA<br />
of 2.5 overall and a 3.0 in the major.<br />
