everyday tasks on the farm; packsaddle<br />
donkey <strong>for</strong> hikers. Vary<strong>in</strong>g size: 1.35-<br />
1.45m <strong>for</strong> sires; m<strong>in</strong>imum 1.30m <strong>for</strong><br />
mares; pla<strong>in</strong> coat: brown-bay to dark<br />
brown-bay and even black; no dorsal<br />
stripe; no stripes on the limbs. Belly light<br />
grey, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the sides of the breast,<br />
gro<strong>in</strong> and the <strong>in</strong>side of the thighs Head =<br />
rectil<strong>in</strong>eal, long open ears, muzzle<br />
whitish-grey, whitish-grey around the<br />
eyes, sometimes outl<strong>in</strong>ed by a reddish<br />
r<strong>in</strong>g. The donkey is hardy, with a strong<br />
neck, open chest, straight back, rounded<br />

Ane des Pyrénées (Syn: Pyrénéen; Pyrenean)<br />
Description: Orig<strong>in</strong>ally used <strong>for</strong> mule<br />
breed<strong>in</strong>g and bred as work<strong>in</strong>g animal. It is<br />
found <strong>in</strong> the Gascogne as well as the<br />
Pyrenean Mounta<strong>in</strong>s. It has a lively, hot<br />
tempered and alert character. This large<br />
donkey has a th<strong>in</strong> and straight body with<br />
an average head size, profile is straight or<br />
concave, long, th<strong>in</strong> upright ears and f<strong>in</strong>e<br />
limbs. Colour: black to dark red or brown.<br />
