In 2002–03 constant dollar terms, exploration spending recorded an increase of 11.4% in the 2002–03<br />
year. This was the first annual increase since the peak year of 1996–97 (Fig. 4a) but spending<br />
remained at a relatively low level compared to the last two decades.<br />
