Welcome to the 22nd Holland Film Meeting, the international section of the 

Netherlands Film Festival which celebrates its 29 th edition this year. 

The Holland Film Meeting Guide is an industry manual containing all practical 

information and relevant contact details of attending industry professionals. An updated 

guest list as of September 23 can be found in your guest package as well as a 

variety of invitations and all other necessary information. 

Once again we received generous national and international support and we would

HOLLAND FILM MEETING 2009 

This year’s selection of the Netherlands Production Platform (NPP) includes 

eight Dutch projects-in-development seeking foreign partners and thirteen European 

projects looking for Dutch and international co-producers/co-financiers. 

The NPP 2009 consists of the following activities: 

• “Dutch Angle” : A public debate for Dutch and international professionals 

on the perception and position of Dutch cinema within the 

international market on Thursday September 24, 14:00 hrs in the 

festival pavillion; 

• Presentation sessions of the European NPP projects on Friday morning 

September 25; 

• Case study “The Millennium Trilogy”, Friday at 15:00 hrs. 

Swedish crime thriller “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. The case study 

will look at the financing, production and marketing of the film. 

• Presentation sessions of the Dutch NPP projects on Saturday morning 

September 26; 

• Individual meetings on Saturday September 26 and Sunday September 27. 

The Benelux Screenings are scheduled in festival auditoria City/Movies, ‘t Hoogt 

and the Rembrandt Cinema. Please check the screening schedule in your guest 

information for details. Limited tickets are available at the Industry Office one day 

before the screening is scheduled. Fred de Haas, coordinator of the Benelux 

Screenings, will be at your service to answer any questions you may have. Please 

show your badge and ticket when entering the theatre. 

Apart from new Dutch film productions also recent features, short films and feature 

length documentaries from Belgium and Luxembourg will be once again available in 

the extensive Video Library, located in Hotel Karel V. 

The annual Binger-Screen International Interview will be held on Friday 

September 25, 17:00-18:30 hrs. Screen International’s editor Mike Goodridge will 

interview director Steve McQueen (“Hunger”). 

During the annual Variety Cinema Militans Lecture Liz Rosenthal, Power to the 

Pixel, will talk about the position of cinema in society. The Lecture takes place on 

Saturday September 26, 18:00-19:00 hrs. in Ottone, Kromme Nieuwegracht 62. The 

Lecture is followed by a Q & A with a representative of tradepaper Variety.

There are 3 kinds of Holland Film Meeting badges; 

• HFM Holland Film Meeting Badge (HFM) 

• HFM Benelux Screenings Badge (HFM/BS) 

• HFM Netherlands Production Platform Badge (HFM/NPP) 

The HFM/BS badge and the HFM/NPP badge give access to all Holland Film 

Meeting activities from Thursday September 24 to Monday September 28, including 

the Benelux Screenings. The HFM badge gives access to the Cinema Militans 

Lecture, the Binger-Screen International Interview and the Guest Office. Only the 

HFM/NPP badge gives access to the NPP Round Table sessions.

activities of the Netherlands Film Festival. For accreditation for the

CARSERVICE / DEPARTURE 

If your flight has been booked by the festival and/or we have received your flight 

schedule, we will do our utmost to pick you up at your hotel and take you to Schiphol 

Airport with our carservice. As there will be the Utrecht Marathon on Sunday 

September 27 problems will be expected regarding traffic. Both coordinator of the 

carservice as well as the head of guestservice will have a personal time-schedule for 

departure at the reception of your hotel on the evening before you leave. 

Please note that the carservice will pick you up at the hotel approximately three 

hours before flight departure to make sure you arrive on time. If you would like to 

leave later, please make use of the train connection and inform the guestservice in 

advance that you will not be using the carservice. If there are any changes in your 

travel schedule, please inform us immediately.

established by film producers Michiel de Rooij and Sabine 

Veenendaal, who both worked over a decade at the well-known 

production company BosBros. Both producers have extensive

CineMart was the first platform in its form to offer film 

makers the opportunity to launch their ideas to the 

international film industry and to find the right 

connections to get their projects financed. Every year, the 

CineMart invites a select number of directors/producers 

to present their film projects to a group of around 800

distributors, TV stations and other potential financiers 

and information sources. CineMart takes place for four 

days during the Rotterdam Film Festival in a convenient 

location that also serves as the festival centre. The heart 

of those four days are formed by the one-to-one meetings 

(CineMart 2009: around 5000) between the project 

representatives and possible financiers. Besides these

The Netherlands Association of Feature Film Producers 

(NVS) is a non-profit association of 35 Dutch feature film 

producers who produce fiction and documentary films for 

the cinema. The NVS represents the interests of its 

members by lobbying for a good political climate for film, 

improving production conditions and working together with 

other audiovisual organisations in addressing the 

authorities, public institutions, TV stations and funds. The 

NVS organizes meetings for its members and publishes a 

member's newsletter.
