Named as one of the recipients of the Prudential Spirit of the Community award, Cassidy Muir
was not only named as a distinguished finalist for aiding, but due to the hours she gave, she was
also named as a special volunteer. She will be receiving a bronze medal and has already received
a letter from President Obama, commending her for her work. Cassidy’s project included
raising $5000 to fund service trips to Kenya, Angola, Haiti and El Salvador. She also collected
and distributed school supplies, clothing, toys, land helped build homes for the homeless, and
designed water filters to provide clean, drinkable water.
Our student of the month program continues. November’s recipient was Bryan Vazquez
for outstanding work in biology. The December student, Callie Joncas, was named for her
contribution to her physical education class. January recognized Heather Dicharia for her
contributions in Amerian Literature and U.S. History classes. Read more about these three
students’ accomplishments on page 8 and 9 in this newsletter.
Second semester means that soon we will be in testing season. First the ACT, then all the
Advanced Placement exams. By now, students have registered for classes next year. Thank you
for all your support and continued encouragement to our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tina Cantrell
